Sanctions lists
Sanctions imposed by the UN, the EU and individual countries are often mentioned in the media. But if you need more detailed information, it is more complicated than you might think. Have you ever tried to find out which person or organisation is on a sanctions list?
This is not entirely easy:
- You have to find the right place on the Internet.
- In order to find something, you have to have some prior knowledge, e.g. know a name or part of a name.
- The lists are presented differently depending on the ‘list provider’ on the Internet. You have to familiarise yourself a little with each provider before you can get started.
- With the Swiss list, for example, it is not possible to get an ‘overview’ and display all those who are affected by certain sanctions (e.g. because of the war in the Urkaine).
This website makes the data on the Swiss sanctions list easily searchable.
